Pencapaian beliau yang terkini ialah beliau dilantik sebagai Duta Malaysia yang pertama ke Arab Saudi. Di antara pangkat dan anugerah-anugerah kebesaran yang diterima oleh beliau ialah Darjah Paduka Mahkota Johor ( DPMJ ), Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang ( DIMP ), Johan Setia Di Raja ( JSD ), Setia Di Raja Kedah ( SDK ), Darjah Johan Negeri ( DJN ) dan lain-lain lagi.

Dato' Syed Hussein telah dilantik berkhidmat di Bahagian Pengurusan dan Khidmat Diplomatik Malaysia pada tahun 1997. Beliau menjawat jawatan sebagai Pembantu Setiausaha di Kementerian Perhubungan Antarabangsa. Sejak itu kebolehan beliau semakin terserlah. Beliau turut menjawat beberapa lagi jawatan lain yang menyerlahkan lagi kewibawaan beliau. Di antara jawatan-jawatan tersebut ialah, Pembantu Setiausaha di Kementerian Perhubungan Antarabangsa, Ketua Setiausaha di Kedutaan Besar Malaysia di Rabat, Morocco. Beliau juga dilantik sebagai Kaunselor di Kedutaan Besar Malaysia di Moscow, Penasihat Konsulat Malaysia di Jeddah, Arab Saudi dan pada masa yang sama memegang jawatan Wakil Tetap OIC di Jeddah.

Pada waktu ini, beliau memegang pelbagai jawatan penting dalam dunia korporat. Di antara jawatan-jawatan tersebut, Menjadi Ketua Eksekutif Medical Service Coordination International, Pengerusi Malaysia-Gulf Business Council, Pengerusi TQM Consultants Sdn. Bhd, Penasihan kepada Syarikat Ramunia Technology Sdn. Bhd dan Pengarah H20 Sports.
Beliau merupakan graduan lepasan Universiti Sains Malaysia. Beliau juga adalah lulusan Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, University of Tufts USA, di mana beliau telah berjaya mendapatkan kelulusan Master di bidang Perhubungan Antarabangsa. Dato' Syed Hussein Al-Habshee telah banyak dianugerahkan pangkat dan darjah-darjah kebesaran sebagai tanda pengiktirafan kebolehan dan kecemelangan beliau.
